CHANGE THE MIND...
CHANGE THE BEHAVIOR...
"I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:1-2
What is Horsemanship?
Horsemanship is the skill of caring for and communicating with the horse.
Communication is the art of directing a horse's thought.
How does a horse think?
Perhaps our greatest mistake as horseman is to give our horse human attributes. The horse does not have a sin nature. He fears man because of man's sin. The horse is always reacting to what he is experiencing now or what he expects to experience based on what has happened in the past. As a prey animal, horses are always protecting themselves and they do this in two ways, fight or flight.
The horse's mind is what moves it's feet. We can accomplish control by getting our horse to conform through fear or forceful repetition, or we can gain submission. Submission is when the horse yields it's mind and thought to the human's direction because the human has proven himself to be trustworthy in the way that he cares for and communicates with his horse.
